THE CADET HONOR CODE
“I WILL NOT LIE, CHEAT, STEAL, NOR TOLORATE THOSE WHO DO.”
- These simple words provide the basis for a personal code of ethics, which will sustain a cadet for the rest of their life. The honor code is specific and clear in what it demands. A cadet is expected to have complete integrity in both word and deed. A cadet avoids evasive or misleading statements. Each cadet does their own work on anything, which is to be graded unless directed to work in groups.
The code belongs to the cadets; therefore maintaining its high standards of trustworthiness is the responsibility of each cadet. This requires self-control and a conscious effort at all times.
- The code goes beyond the part of one’s life, which involves AFJROTC training. Its purpose is to become ingrained as an ethical code and lifestyle.
- If a cadet becomes aware of lying, stealing, or cheating they need to report the episode through the chain of command to the Cadet Corps Commander. The Cadet Corps Commander will investigate the charges and take appropriate action. Appropriate actions may include dismissal of charges, loss of position and/or rank, or a recommendation to the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor that the cadet be dismissed from AFJROTC.
